Andrei Iulian Toma

Game Artist - Environment & Vehicle Artist

3D Artist Generalist

In high-school I heard someone talking about some software named 3dsMax. I asked the person about the program and became                                    very interested. At a first glance the software looked like rocket science to me but I started learning it by following the tutorials that came along with it and others I've found on the internet. Some time ago I've started to learn about the pipelines and workflows of game asset creation since making computer games was my dream job as a kid. It's been almost two years since I've been chosen by Ubisoft Bucharest to be an Environment Artist for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier, time in which I've learned real pipelines in game asset creation, from asset and textures nomenclature to setting up materials and shaders inside the game platform. I have learned about technical constraints, optimizations, respecting memory limits, environment sectorization and so on. During my past job I have worked closely with Level Designers and other Environment Artists to create 2 successful campaign missions. During my past assessment I have also created assets and texture maps for two important features in Future Soldier, the UAV/Crawler drone and the Warhound. The UAV/Crawler is a Main Character feature and the Warhound is a map specific feature(found only on campaign map Silent Talon). With this said, my further goal is to continue my career as a 3D Game Artist.
